Purpose of peat substrates

Peat is a natural material formed as a result of the decomposition of mosses and other marsh plants in conditions of high humidity and lack of oxygen. Peat is used in agriculture, energy, medicine and other industries.

Peat nutrient substrate is neutral peat that has been processed and enriched with minerals. It is used to grow various plants, as it provides them with the necessary conditions for growth and development.

Peat substrates are used to grow plants, especially those that prefer acidic soil, such as hydrangeas, azaleas and many others. They are also used to create natural garden soil to preserve the natural structure of the soil and its fertility.

The technology of peat substrate production includes the following stages:
1. Peat sorting: removal of mechanical impurities and root residues.
2. Peat deoxidation: adding limestone flour to achieve the required acidity (pH).
3. Adding mineral components: adding nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in accordance with the specified soil grade.
4. Adding a humate solution and a microbiological additive to stimulate plant growth and protect against pathogens.
5. Packing the finished soil into bags and packaging.

Peat substrates consist of solid components (humus, undecomposed plant components and mineral particles), water and gas mixtures. The main types of peat are lowland, high-moor and transitional. Lowland peat is rich in nutrients, but has a dense structure prone to lumps. High-moor peat is light, porous, with good thermal insulation properties, but contains fewer nutrients. Transitional peat combines the characteristics of lowland and high-moor peat.

Export of peat substrates in big bags is carried out by road transport. Peat is packed in large bags, called big bales, weighing from 600 to 1000 kg and with a capacity of 3 to 5,2 m³. Transportation is carried out on Euro pallets with additional packaging in stretch film.

Before sending peat abroad, it is necessary to conduct a phytosanitary inspection. This is a mandatory procedure, without which the goods will not be allowed into another country. The process is quite long and complicated, so it is better to contact a professional customs broker and conclude an agreement with the territorial laboratory of Rosselkhoznadzor.
